Prof. Michael Dowling was honored to be invited to participate as a speaker and panelist at the 20th Annual STS (Science and Technology in Society) Forum. STS was founded in 2004 by Koji Omi, the former Japanese Minister of Finance.

The basic concept of the STS Forum is to bring together more than 1,000 scientists and global leaders in politics, business, and academia to meet annually in Kyoto, Japan, a city that is both a 1,200-year-old ancient capital and a center of cutting-edge science and technology.
The conference was opened by STS Chairman Hiroshi Komiyama and the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida.
Sessions included energy and climate change, human activities in space, innovative engineering, digital society, quantum technologies, and AI and hyper-automation.
The opening reception was held at Ninna-Ji Temple and hosted by the Mayor of Kyoto, Daisaku Kadokawa.
